New Zealand Line Dance Legacy Trust
Proudly hosting the Northern Line Dance Extravaganza

Promote • Develop • Grow
We are committed to expanding line dancing across New Zealand by increasing visibility, accessibility, and participation at all levels. Through national campaigns, community outreach, and partnerships, we will introduce new dancers to the scene while supporting sustainable growth in clubs, schools, and regional communities.
Support Dancers, Instructors & Clubs
Our trust exists to strengthen the people at the heart of line dancing. We will provide resources, guidance, and advocacy to dancers, instructors, and clubs—ensuring they have the tools, networks, and recognition needed to thrive in a connected national community.
Events, Festivals & Competitions
We will deliver and support high-quality events that celebrate line dance culture and excellence. From grassroots gatherings to national competitions and international festivals, our focus is on creating professionally run, inclusive experiences that inspire participation and showcase talent.
Education, Training & Certification
We aim to lift standards and provide clear development pathways through structured education and certification. By offering workshops, training programmes, and recognised qualifications, we will support skill progression for dancers, instructors, and choreographers alike.
International Collaboration & Cultural Exchange
We will actively build relationships with global line dance communities to bring international expertise to New Zealand while showcasing our own talent abroad. Cultural exchange, visiting choreographers, and collaborative events will ensure our dancers remain connected to the global stage.
Health, Wellbeing & Community
Line dancing is more than movement—it’s connection, wellbeing, and belonging. We promote a supportive, inclusive environment that enhances physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connection, ensuring line dance contributes positively to communities nationwide.
Our Guiding Vision
One Country. Many Dancers. Shared Legacy.
We honour the past, enrich the present, and build a future where line dancing in New Zealand is unified, respected, and thriving for generations to come.
How a Trust works
The Trust structure helps to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of line dancing in New Zealand. It provides a formal governance framework that enables access to community funding, and allows funds and resources to be managed for the benefit of the wider line dance community rather than for individual gain. Through this structure, the organisation can focus on its charitable objectives, including supporting dancers, instructors, choreographers and clubs, delivering events and educational opportunities, and preserving a lasting legacy for future generations of line dancers.
A charitable trust protects the future of the organisation. Rather than belonging to one person, it is managed by trustees who ensure all decisions and resources are used to benefit the line dancing community and advance the trust’s charitable goals. The trustees:
- Make decisions on behalf of the trust, and ensure that funds are used to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
- Act in the best interests of the trust rather than for personal benefit.
- Provide accountability and governance.
- Help ensure the organisation can continue beyond the involvement of its original founders.
